Summer Reading Program at Lake County Public Library

Young people preschool age to 6th grade and older will explore underground this summer as Lake County Public Library presents “Dig Into Reading!” during their Summer Reading Program.  Sign up on June 17 or the first day you attend.  Enroll your child in the session that best suits their needs.  The program ends with the children being in the Summer Reading Program float in the Boom Days Parade on August 3.  This year, we will be miners in an ore cart heading to the Read-more Mine.  The children will receive hard hats to wear in the parade and that they can keep.

Prizes, provided by local merchants, are awarded for reading.  You may start reading, or being read to, for prizes on June 17.  The last day to record hours is August 1 at 5:00 pm.  Prizes are awarded to the Top Readers! The children may also participate in the Readopoly Game to earn a free book.

This year, thanks to the generosity of Friends of Lake County Public Library, we are able to take 50 children to the National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum as part of the program.
