Rachel’s Challenge Coming to Leadville in September

Did you catch the school bus in the Boom Days Parade this year?

rachels challenge boom days busDecorated with paper chains and banners, the bus, accompanied by LCSD superintendent Wendy Wyman, West Park principal Stephanie Gallegos, their husbands, and several parent and student volunteers, helped spread the word about Rachel’s Challenge.

Rachel’s Challenge is an organization started by Rachel Joy Scott’s parents in her memory.  Rachel was one of the first victims in the Columbine High School shooting.  After her death, Rachel’s parents found her journal, and they were so inspired by her entries that they decided to begin Rachel’s Challenge – and start a chain reaction of kindness and compassion world-wide.

We will be starting our own chain reaction here in Leadville with a presentation for the community at the Tabor Opera House on September 16th at 7:00 pm.  All community members and students grade 6 and above are encouraged to attend this inspiring event.  We will be providing free translation and child care.
