The Huck Finn Park Committee is pleased to announce that the Department of Local Affairs awarded Huck Finn Park $113,840 to be applied towards the new building that will be next to the ice rink. We’ve come along way since our initial park meeting during the spring of 2010. To date, over a million dollars in funding and in-kind services has been raised for the park. With this last grant, we have reached our fundraising goal, and can now concentrate on finishing up the details at the new skatepark, getting the tennis courts fixed up and getting a new building built.

This has truly been a community effort, and it just goes to show that anything is possible as long as there is vision and perseverance. Numerous community members have shown their support by donating their time, space and energy at fundraising events. Many businesses – most of them local – have provided goods or services towards the park’s very successful silent auctions and raffle. Additionally, the project has received professional services running the gamut from graphic design, project consulting, architectural and landscape design, to construction services.

Thanks so much for supporting the Huck Finn Park Project! Please stay in touch as there is still plenty going on. Watch the park’s progress and keep up with current news/meetings at Also, if you would like to be added to the park’s email list contact us at
